Militia Arms Store + My Favorites
The Militia Arms Store is located next to the Guard House on Carleton Street in the Garrison District. It is a wooden structure originally built in 1832 to keep military weapons and ammunition for the Royal New Brunswick Regiment. Today, it is the official office of Fredericton Tourism. Officer's Square + My Favorites
From this site the beating of many different drums has been heard over the centuries - from the military marches of the British Army in 1785 and the Canadian Army in 1883 to the present day rhythm of musicans performing at the Summer Music Series. Come see the changing of the guard and inspection ceremonies during July and August. Also in Officer's Square is the statue dedicated to Lord Beaverbrook, a publishing giant and lawyer who assisted the first Canadian born British Prime Minister. The Guard House + My Favorites
Restored after having been destroyed by fire, the Guard House was once garrisoned by the 1st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade. Tours are available in both English and French in July and August. This building had a variety of roles in the past - hospital, World War One soldier's barracks and RCMP headquarters. Today it is the home of New Brunswick’s lieutenant governor. The Georgian structure contains many artifacts and furnishings, as well as interactive displays, an art gallery and offices. Guided tours are available. The Ducks Unlimited Conservation Centre + My Favorites
With the Saint John River as its backdrop, this conservation and interpretive center features educational programs on wetlands ecology. Soldiers' Barracks & Artisan Studios + My Favorites
